Bezděz, once a royal castle, is one of the most significant Gothic monuments in the country. Visitors can admire the royal palace with a unique chapel and abundant Gothic architectonic details, the burgrave\'s palace and other parts of the castle. The Grand Tower with a knights\' hall on the top floor that offers spectacular views of the surroundings is open to the public as well.

Grabštejn Castle and Chateau 

Hradek nad Nisou / Lusetian Mountains
Grabštejn Castle was founded in the 13th century. Over the centuries it was rebuilt several times and the later adjustments changed it into a comfortable manor. It was first opened to the public in 1993. Visitors can view the Gothic cellars and the rooms in two storeys of the chateau that are furnished mostly with original pieces of furniture, decorated with paints and other decorative items. The real jewel is the Renaissance Chapel of St. Barbora with rich paint decorations from the 16th century. The tower offers views of distant surroundings.

In the 16th century, the originally Gothic castle was rebuilt in a representative Renaissance chateau. The best-known and most significant owner was Kryštof Harant of Polžice and Bezdružice (1564-1621), the famous traveller, writer and musician.
 

Valdštejn Castle 

Turnov / Bohemian Paradise
Valštejn Castle is situated at the western edge of the Hruboskalsko rock formation. It was founded in the mid 13th century by the noble family of Markvartice, whose later successor was Albrecht of Valdštejn, the famous military leader.

The castle and chateau of Staré Hrady near Jičína is a unique Renaissance group of buildings with figural sgraffito. The first mention dates back to 1340. It was originally a Gothic castle, with the characteristic elements created in the shop of Petr Parléř, with an adjacent Renaissance chateau and bailey.
