The old town hall was built in 1867-9 by Liberec`s builder Gustav Sachers. It is a three-storey building with its typical square tower and originally it served as the seat of the municipality.
Later it also became the main post office and the seat of district authorities. After the new town hall was built in the 1930s, the town`s public library moved to the building.
