Both ponds originate from sand quarrying. Malý Písečák occupies 12 hectares and Velký Písečák spreads over 27 hectares. The locality offers camping, recreation, swimming and fishing, and at Velký Písečák also surfing and yachting. Swimming is at your own risk as there is no lifeguard service.
