History of the Dvořákov property
The idea about the future living as well as a source of livelihood implemented in the early twentieth century, a trained mason Julius Lange (1874 - 1945). He found that on the land near the present No.626 is a wonderful resource of Jizera granite. A small quarry that Julius opened, served as an excellent source of building material for both the house and the barn. His father Florian Lange (register under a stone mason and gardener) purchased the land from the Clam-Gallas government agency in Frýdlant already in 1901. At that time, Julius had already had three children: Emil (b. 1896), Elisabeth (1899) and Alfred (1901). Residential building was completed in 1904, with it there was a simple barn, where there were only pillars lined with stone, the walls were made of wood.
The building with the pond, called Gondelteich (Gondola Pond) in German, was built by mason Lange, who quarried the stone here. And when he hit the groundwater and the quarry got flooded, he founded a restaurant in 1904 and on the pond he held boating events. There was also a swimming pool. The inn had been in operation for some time after the end of the 2nd World War and gondola parties were held on the pond.
A few years ago this holding was unoccupied and before that it served as an accommodation for the loggers.
Among other things, a family of name Šimek lived here and so the house was sometimes called Šimkovna.
In 1994, Dvořák family bought the house from the Frýdlant Forestry a.s. To the Dvořáks, the house serves as a family house by which they have extensive flowerbeds with many kinds of dahlia, which he exhibits at numerous exhibitions and flower shows. In 2004, the planting of dahlias was officially recognised as a publicly accessible dahlia gene bank. Frequent publicity on TV channels and Czech Radio, some magazine articles have brought many visitors.
