Spring trips in the rock city of Hrubá Skála

Bohemian Paradise

The picturesque area of the Czech Paradise offers a vide range of tourist paths and opportunities for spring visits. If you plan your trip to the heart of the Czech Paradise – the rock city of Hrubá Skála - you will not be disappointed.

In spring, the most rock formations are especially beautiful. Lonely standing rocks, deep gorges, chimneys, rock lips and countless bizarre rock formations with suitable names. Almost all visitors of the rock city know the Bandmaster – the highest tower in Hrubá Skála, among other interesting names belong the Easter Rock, the Forgotten Rock or the Fatal Rock. The last one fulfills, according to a legend, one secret wish to anyone who throws a stone through its natural hole.

A frequent starting point for drivers is the car park at the castle Hrubá Skála. The tourists, who arrive by train, choose often the train station Sedmihorky. Very popular is the red marked backbone track of the Czech Paradise with interesting scenic overlooks and a nature trail. On the valley floor of the rock city, there is the romantic yellow marked Crocodile path, which reminds us of the sea, which had been here in the past. You can also choose the blue, so called Anger´s path, which is regarded as the most beautiful, although not very comfortable path on the plateau Hrubá Skála.

While visiting the region of Hrubá Skála, we should not forget the monuments. The Valdštejn castle is open from April. There are often weekend concerts in the local church, exhibitions in the castle precincts and swordsmen fighting in the bailey. In the castle Hrubá Skála, there you can visit the view terrace with marvelous views of the rock city. A unique view of the Trunov region is offered by the rock formation Hlavatice, it is possible to climb to its top on metal stairway.
