Kateřiny Militké 58
Mladá Boleslav, 293 01
The most important archdean`s church in Mladá Boleslav. Recently restored, it shines again in Staroměstské Square.
The origin of the church is estimated around 1334, but an earlier beginning cannot be ruled out. The church was first made of wood and then rebuilt from stone. Kateřina Militká, a mercenary of Mladá Boleslav, had the church reconstructed in the late Gothic-style at her own expense in 1566. In 1702 the church received a Baroque design by Nicolas Rossi after a fire in the town. The Calixtine past of Mladá Boleslav is manifested by the stone chalice located at the left window in the facade of the church. The interior is decorated with Renaissance-style frescos, the most valuable object is undoubtedly the Gothic font from the second half of the 15th century.
