The first records of Vlastiboř date back to 1627. During World War II a guerilla group, named Konstantin, was active in the village. At the south-east fringe of the village there is a memorial dedicated to those events. In the wood on the hillside of Hvězda (556m), a guerilla hide with a memorial plaque has been preserved.

Around 3km north of the village, there are remains of Navarov Castle. The peaceful surrounding nature is ideal for hiking trips or cycle touring, or for spending a peaceful but active holiday.
