The history of the village is mostly connected with Svojkov Castle, built in the 14th century by the Chlum and Svojkov families. There are several typical houses of rural architecture in Svojkov. Further there is St. Wenceslas's Chapel, a rock chapel is situated in near Modlivý důl, and the ruin of Svojkov Castle is also worth seeing.

Svojkov lies close to Lužické hory, a good destination for hiking and cycle touring. South of Svojkov there are the well-known Holanské rybníky and Máchovo jezero, popular summer destinations.
