Skalka, originally called Kalek, was mentioned by Charles IV already in 1348. The village environs are ideal for recreation and tourism. In summer there are excellent conditions for swimming and water sports at nearby Máchovo jezero. You may also visit Bezděz Castle, the dominant feature of Máchův kraj, which is seen from far away.
