The first houses in the place of the current village were built even before the Hussite wars. They were built along a wood path which was later rebuilt into the main road from Liberec to Frýdlant.

Both Mníšek and Fojtka are surrounded by hills and woods. In the south-west they are protected by Dračí kámen, below which the occurrence of rare European yew was noted. Around a hundred yew trees grow there. A nature trail goes through the yew grove.
