The oldest notes on the village date back to 1295, mentioning a rock castle of Jestřebí. Craftsmen settled around the castle and in 1352 a small town of Krušina is mentioned in the records. In the 16th century the town took over the name of Jestřebí Castle.

The environs of Jestřebí are ideal for hiking excursions. You may go south to the beautiful landscape in the surroundings of Máchovo jezero, or to the north to the natural parks of Novozámecký rybník or Peklo.
