A separate foothill village was first mentioned in 1569. Janův Důl lies in a peaceful and nice region. It is an ideal place for hiking excursions. A hiking trail going through the village leads near Jenišovský mlýn to the main spring of Ploučnice. A recreation offer is represented by Camping 2000, a complex which was built in a former farmstead.
