After an extensive fire in 1826 the Železnice was renovated in a unified classicist style, according to plans and designs by the architect Jan Hertner. Most of the structures have been preserved and form a truly unique Empire-style urban unit. Hence, the historic part of Železnice was declared an urban monument zone (1990).

Most of the houses are decorated with stucco in the late Classicist style. In addition, there are timbered cottages (end of the 18th century).
