There is an elevation in the north, called Lipky, offering a beautiful view of Český ráj - Frýdštejn, Kozákov, Hruboskalsko and Ještědský hřeben.

The first record of Lažany dates back to 1397. Originally it used to be a farming village growing fruit and vegetables; nowadays there are mostly orchards.

The location of the village is advantageous thanks to the vicinity of Český ráj - beautiful rock formations, castles, chateaux, ruins. Lovers of skiing may visit near winter resorts in Jizerské hory, on Ještěd or in Harrachov, the western gateway to Krkonoše.
