The village is located in Podkrkonoší on a high plain at the elevation of 545m. The first record of the village dates back to 1543.

There are abandoned slate quarries in the neighbourhood of the village. Thanks to the village location, various tourist destinations in Krkonoše are easy to reach. Lovers of winter sports may use kilometres of tended downhill slopes or cross-country tracks. In summer, cyclists may use cycle tracks crossing the entire area of Podkrkonoší and Krkonoše.
