Slaná is located near Semily in a valley of the Oleška stream. The village comprises three local parts - Bořkov, Nedvězí and Hořensko.
The oldest record of Nedvězí dates back to 1322. The surrounding hills offer beautiful views of the region. Cycle track No. 4175 goes through the village, connecting Slaná with Český ráj and Krkonoše, and the blue hiking track leading to Lomnice nad Popelkou.
