The first records of the village date back to the period of 1471 - 1481. At the end of the 17th century Polevsko became one of the first glass trading centres. The export of Czech glass abroad was executed by anonymous traders or foundry masters.

As far as cultural monuments are concerned, there is the Holy Trinity Church in the village, dating back to the beginning of the 18th century. In the middle of the village a complete set of two-floor timbered houses has been preserved, evidencing the local rural architecture.
