Nová Ves is first mentioned in historical sources in 1634. You will find several historical monuments in the village, such as modern St. Mary's Church from 1935, or a cross from 1810, a protected monument. The cross is located at a crossing of an old road to Jablonecké Paseky and road leading to Lučany nad Nisou. The crossing is often called U tří lip.

As a tourist place, Nová Ves is mainly interesting thanks to its location in the southern part of Jizerské hory, where there are numerous natural monuments and good conditions for hiking and cycling excursions. Jablonec nad Nisou, Tanvald or Liberec, which are located close to Nová Ves, offer plenty of historical monuments and cultural events.
