The village lies in a valley, which is attached to Studenec in its upper part and is linked to Dolní Kalná in the east. A lot of timbered houses have been preserved in the village. House No. 20 is a protected monument. The picturesque houses, which are unique nowadays, are set naturally in the surrounding landscape.

The location of the village in the region of Podkrkonoší determines its character - it is a popular tourist destination, good for hiking excursions or a break during a cycling tour on any of the cycle tracks in the surrounding peaceful countryside. Close to Bukovina u Čisté there are major holiday resorts in Krkonoše where lovers of winter sports will find dozens of tended downhill slopes or kilometres of cross-country ski tracks.
