Kryštofovo údolí is located east of Liberec, at the Rokytka stream. In the past it used to be an old charcoal burners` and smugglers` village which was allegedly founded in the 16th century. There are still traces of mining in various parts of the village.
Apart from beautiful surrounding nature, the village is attractive thanks to its historical monuments. They include St. Christopher's Church, a wooden bell tower and the statue of St. John of Nepomuk on a stone bridge over Rokytka. Further the Museum of Christmas Cribs is a big attraction for visitors. There is also a natural swimming pool in the village.

Novina, a small village, is attached to Kryštofovo údolí. It extends from a robust railway viaduct up to the mountains, almost below Malý Ještěd. You may go on a romantic trip from Kryštofovo údolí to Liberec by train. The railway leads through two tunnels and over several viaducts.
