The castle was founded at the beginning of the 14th century. In the past, it was rebuilt several times. Today`s appearance is the result of renovation in the Romantic style.

The bullwark resembles a ship whose mast is the round tower. Another dominant element of the castle is the palace. Its walls are covered with paintings with knight motifs. The palace is equipped with copies of period furniture and examples of historic weapons and ceramic decorations. The scenic surroundings have set the background for numerous legends about marauding knights and a peculiar watch system, consisting of a line of dwellings carved in the rocks.

The castle is often used for wedding ceremonies.
