The Museum was established in 1904, upon the initiative of renowned paleontologist, geologist, and professor of zoology at Charles University, Antonín Frič, who underwent treatment in the local spa and often visited Bělohrad.
There are natural curiosities and exhibits on national history on display here. Occasional exhibitions are also organised in the Museum. The building was designed by the architect Otto Tille, giving it the look of an ancient temple. Marble slabs are fitted on the face of the building, bearing names of soldiers killed in World War I.
